Farmworkers Breakfast event in Brawley

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) – The City of Brawley had its second annual Farmworker Breakfast event Friday morning.

About 200 people attended the breakfast that took place at the Providence in Brawley at 3 a.m.

Jayapal, Barragán, Grijalva Call for Reforms to H-2A Program to Protect Immigrant Farm Workers

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representatives Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Nanette Barragán (CA-44), and Raúl Grijalva (AZ-07) are leading 43 of their colleagues in calling on the Department of Labor (DOL) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to improve the H-2A program used by farm workers. Both agencies have announced proposed rules that would serve to protect these essential workers. The members are urging swift finalization of those rules to ensure accountability and transparency in the H-2A program and broader agricultural industry.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. — The City of Santa Maria hosted their annual Dia De Los Muertos festival with “Ofrendas” or Altars created by families for their late loved ones.
Dia De Los Muertos is celebrated on Nov. 2 it is a Latin tradition that began since pre-Hispanic Aztec rituals.
